Powersstuntworx - safe gear for stunters
Most stunters know that there are a few important pieces to make a decent stunt bike. One of the most important is the cage. For those who don't stunt, a cage is a set of metal pipes designed to mount to the bike, and surround the motor and majority of the frame. The cage is there so that when the bike falls (which happens often during stunting) the internals of the bike are kept safe.
Powerstuntworks has developed a number of safety pieces, setting the standard for innovative crash protection in the motorcycle industry. The owner, Matt Powers, sat down with Speedfreak to give us a little bit of a look into the world of crash protection.

So how long have you been in business, and how did it start?
It was started in 2003. I, Matt Powers, started road racing and came up with the idea of a one man rear stand to assist me to change out my rear tire during a busy race weekend. A few months later I showed Team X-Treme the rear stand and Todd Colbert wanted to put it on the website. Chris Nichols pulled me aside later and said, "You should start to make crash protection for motorcycles." There is a cage company out there making cages which were breaking the frames.
Favorite part about what you do?
My life and passion since the age of five has been motorcycles. Most people only dream of being able to get up everyday and feel as fortunate and blessed as I do. My life feels fulfilled being able to work with something that I love and have passion for.
